About Cantina Zaccagnini
Founded in 1978 by Marcello Zaccagnini in Bolognano, in the heart of Abruzzo, Cantina Zaccagnini has grown from a small family estate into one of the region's most recognizable producers, today crafting wine from grapes grown across the hills of Pescara. The winery is best known for its “Tralcetto” range, instantly identifiable by the tralcetto — a hand-tied grapevine cutting attached to the neck of every bottle — symbolizing the winery's deep connection to the land.
Since the 1980s, the estate has also built a reputation beyond wine, transforming its cellar spaces into a venue for contemporary art and cultural events, reflecting a philosophy that unites winemaking with artistic expression. This connection with art and the land was further reinforced by the legacy of German artist Joseph Beuys and his Defense of Nature project. In 1984, Beuys held his historic Defense of Nature discussion in Bolognano, exploring the deep interdependence between people and the environment and viewing art as a catalyst for social and ecological change.
In 2023, Cantina Zaccagnini joined the Argea Group, further strengthening its international reach while retaining its distinct regional identity.
